South Central Power Company, Ohio’s largest electric cooperative, is seeking an individual to fill the position of Business Analyst.

Responsibilities include leading project management efforts within the Engineering and Operations business units. This position will coordinate internal departmental projects within a team environment including; initiation, planning, executing and monitoring projects efficiently. The position will assist in the analysis of data, justification and development of proposals for sustainable, repeatable and quantifiable business process improvements. The position will act as the facilitator for process improvement teams and will be responsible for analyzing and documenting the resulting processes. The successful candidate will develop strong relationships and effectively communicate with all stakeholders including internal and external customers, contractors and industry peers.

We are looking for an individual with leadership experience, strong communication skills with and demonstrated knowledge in project management and continuous improvement. Candidates must be highly self-motivated with a strong attention to detail and proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. Candidates must have exceptional written and oral communication skills. Exceptional interpersonal skills are required with a focus on rapport-building and listening. Candidates must also be able to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a timely manner as well as be experienced working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment and have the ability to train others.

This position will report to the VP of Engineering and Operations and work out of the Lancaster office.

Qualifications

•    A bachelor’s degree in business or related field is required.

•    Applicants should have a minimum of five years’ experience in project management and process administration with a broad knowledge of the electric utility industry.

•    Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize multiple systems/products fluently.

•    Regular contacts with other persons within the department and outside the department to provide and interpret project information. Must have or be able to develop professional contacts with affiliated companies and customers.

•    A working knowledge of the cooperative model is preferred.

South Central Power Company, Ohio’s largest electric cooperative, is seeking an individual to fill the position of Business Development Manager at our Lancaster office.

The successful candidate will be responsible in supporting and implement the company’s targeted Key Account and Economic Development program goals. The program assures coordination and implementation of products and services that help key accounts succeed. The program involves all aspects of key account development from initial contact during the “business attraction” stage of economic development efforts to maintaining ongoing relationships. This position will continue to build effective stakeholder engagement strategies with state, regional, and local economic development organizations. This position will proactively develop and coordinate efforts in locating and promoting energy intensive business growth.

Essential functions include:

  • Assisting in the development and categorization of key accounts.
  • Special project requests.
  • Identify trends or events that may present additional opportunities or risks and develop programs, proposals and services to capitalize on opportunities and mitigate risks. Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key state, regional and local economic development stakeholders to promote company service areas and offerings to industry prospects. Actively seek board positions within local economic development organizations.
  • Work with economic development organization partners to promote the company’s service area as an attractive location for new business/expansion through targeted business recruitment missions and attendance at significant national, regional and local meetings/conferences.
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for new business prospects and coordinates the company response for specific site selection inquiries.
  • Responsible for maintaining the economic development database that tracks project activities and monthly reporting activities.
  • Assist with the implementation of annual and long-term business strategic plans for the department.
  • Create, promote and maintain safety in every activity, holding yourself and team members accountable for safe behavior.

The Business Development Manager will directly oversee the activities of two Key Account Representatives and report to the Director of Energy Services and Business Development.

Qualifications and experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, communications, or related field required. Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) and/or Certified Key Account Executive (CKAE) is highly desired.
  • A minimum of five years of progressive experience working in economic development, energy services or key accounts at an electric utility or related organization is required.
  • Knowledge of electricity and electrical distribution and transmission circuits.  A general understanding of energy related electro-technologies is required.

South Central Power Company, Ohio’s largest electric cooperative, is seeking an individual to fill the position of Energy Advisor. 

Responsibilities include providing advice, assistance and information to residential members regarding energy use, energy delivery systems, energy and non-energy programs and overall cooperative operations, including on-site visits and presentations to various public and industry organizations. This role may require field work such as meeting the member at their residence. Also includes serving as initial point of contact and project facilitator for members who are installing distributed generation and/or renewable energy systems at their homes or businesses.

Candidates must have exceptional written and oral communication skills and be able to effectively present to members. This position will report to the Energy Services Manager and work out of the Lancaster office.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent with additional formal training or experience in public speaking, electric delivery systems and basic mathematics and composition is preferred. Must obtain a building performance institute (BPI) building science principles certificate within two years from hire date.
  • Applicants should have a minimum of five years’ experience in customer/public relations or other areas of utility operations.
  • Knowledge of electric distribution systems, overall cooperative operation and cooperative principles is preferred.

South Central Power Company, Ohio’s largest electric cooperative, is seeking an individual to fill the position of Key Accounts Representative.

Responsibilities include building and maintaining relationships that assure the mutual success of the cooperative and the Key Account. Relationships are to be maintained with existing identified Key Accounts as well as developed with prospective members who will generally meet the criteria of a Key Account. This position will help assess and address any issues with Key Accounts, including, but not limited to Billing, Power Quality, and Energy Efficiency. This position will also act as a project liaison for new large power commercial services. Helping identify and onboard potential Key Accounts is an integral role within the Key Accounts Program.

Candidates must have exceptional written and oral communication skills and be able to effectively present to members. This position will report to the Director of Energy Services and Business Development and work out of the Lancaster office

Other essential functions include:

  • Serve as primary contact for all commercial and industrial loads identified as existing Key Accounts and assist with any other commercial large power account requests such as billing, rate schedule, and payments.
  • Serve as project lead during new construction phases for prospective members who will generally meet the criteria of a Key Account. This includes:
    • Timely flow of information between developers and cooperative personnel.
    • Gathering all necessary load, project requirement information and timelines from the member or his/her representative and sharing that information with cooperative personnel to assure timely completion of projects.
  • Conduct site visits to offer assistance and any cooperative services and products that may be beneficial to Key Account members, including, but not limited to making recommendations for improving load factor, power factor and power quality.
  • Serve as project lead for all commercial rebate programs.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma is required. A bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, communications or related field desired. Must complete NRECA course: 487.2 Managing Your Electric Cooperative’s Key Accounts within two years from hire date.
  • At least five years of experience in customer service with an electric utility is desired. At least two years managing commercial accounts, negotiating business deals and building customer relationships is required.
  • Knowledge of electric distribution systems and general understanding of energy related electro-technologies is desired.

South Central Power Company, Ohio’s largest electric cooperative, has an immediate opening for an Electrical System Engineer.

This position is responsible for directing, coordinating and overseeing activities related to  maintenance, system planning, operation of distribution and transmission line facilities and to provide engineering support. Duties include but are not limited to preparing plans and studies relating to sectionalizing, over current protection, device coordination, over voltage protection, voltage improvement, power factor correction, load balancing, and system reliability; preparing written technical documents such as procedures, design criteria, specifications and reports; working closely with System Control to evaluate switching scenarios, perform load flow studies, and assist with switch order development; conducting ongoing evaluations of our system and oversees appropriate maintenance as needed.

We are looking for an experienced individual who has extensive knowledge of all aspects of transmission, distribution electrical systems operation and procedures. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate sound judgment with the ability to plan, perform and make decisions as to the sequence of processes within the limitations of standard methods or procedures. Safety is a top priority of South Central Power Company. Therefore, the successful candidate will have demonstrated safe work practices, exceptional communication skills, and be committed to playing an active role in safety. The successful applicant must be able to effectively communicate, both written and verbal, with the capability to effectively respond and problem solve. The position will report to the Director of Planning and Reliability and be positioned at our Lancaster, OH, location.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or electronic engineering is required. A minimum of 5 years of related engineering experience in all phases of electrical transmission and distribution construction operation and system maintenance is required.
  • Must demonstrate proficient business literacy, planning and computer skills. Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing.  Must maintain a valid drivers’ license and good driving record. Must have or be able to develop professional contacts with affiliated companies and customers.
