South Central Power Company has an immediate opening for a Journeyman Line Worker at our Lancaster, Ohio location. The successful candidate will have satisfactorily completed a recognized apprenticeship program and be able to perform all classes of overhead and underground distribution work on energized and de-energized lines.

South Central Power is an electric distribution cooperative headquartered in Lancaster, Ohio, with additional offices across the state. South Central Power serves approximately 115,000 customers and owns and maintains 11,600 miles of distribution line and 256 miles of 69 kV transmission line. The cooperative operates six 138 kV to 69 kV delivery points as well as 70 substations and delivery points. South Central Power serves residential and a wide range of commercial and industrial customers in very rural areas of south central and eastern Ohio as well as suburban areas south and southeast of Columbus.

Responsibilities include all types of work involved with the installation, rearrangement, maintenance, operation, removal and inspection of electrical transmission and distribution facilities, which includes substations.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a high school degree or equivalent
  • Must be classified as a Journeyman in the electrical field
  • Maintain a Class A CDL
  • Successfully pass a background check, drug/alcohol test and a physical and knowledge based pre-hire assessment

The awarded candidate will be required to live within 25 miles of the facility within the first 6 months of employment and is required to be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for scheduled or unscheduled assignments. We offer a competitive salary and comprehensive benefit package.

South Central Power Company, Ohio’s largest electric cooperative, is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as the Energy Services Supervisor.

This position is responsible for coordinating the energy service function relating to managing energy efficiency and renewable energy programs, marketing products and services, conducting field visits, creating member communication to address questions, and overseeing the energy services team. We are looking for an experienced supervisor with strong leadership and communication skills who will work hard to ensure we add value to the lives of our members. The position will report to the Director of Energy Services & Business Development at the Lancaster office with occasional travel to district offices. Direct reports include our Energy Advisors and Energy Services Coordinator.

Qualifications include:

  • An Associate Degree in business or related field is required. Experience in energy efficiency, energy auditing, demand response programs, or similar, with an emphasis on customer service, can be substituted for a degree.
  • A minimum of five years of progressive experience with a utility or allied industry in the area of energy services including three years of supervisory experience in energy services is required.
  • A thorough knowledge of energy use and cooperative business practices is required as well as an understanding of the impact of processes between cooperative departments. Technical knowledge of energy services required.

South Central Power Company has an immediate opening for a Vegetation Control Manager. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating and managing South Central Power Company’s multi-million-dollar Vegetation Management program including; budget, performance, vendor agreements and work scope management. This position ensures we work as team to meet or exceed performance goals.

Responsibilities of the position include providing leadership that focuses on improving member reliability, contractor management, continuous cost and performance improvement, work scope planning and scheduling collaboratively with the vegetation services providers to ensure budget, schedule and quality performance objectives are met. This position develops, manages, and documents our vegetation vendor resource strategy to ensure both short-term and long-term success of the program, collaboratively leads the development and management of program performance metrics aligned with the Cooperative’s program goals and objectives. The successful applicant will be expected to provide timely, clear and consistent communication to key stakeholders on a regular basis, and to support storm restoration efforts through personal involvement, management of team personnel and acquisition of supplemental vegetation management resources.

Qualifications include:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required. College or technical school training equivalent to one-year coursework in Forestry, Environmental engineering or a related subject matter preferred. A minimum of four years’ practical utility experience with at least two years’ experience as a supervisor preferred.
  • Candidates should have a commercial applications license, Industrial Vegetation – Category 5 or must become certified within one year of being hired. In addition, candidates should have an ISA Certified Arborist certification or must obtain it within two years of being hired.
  • Candidates should have demonstrated consistency and proficiency in oral and written communications; ability to negotiate; is member driven; displays initiative; accepts responsibility; holds others accountable; participates in and facilitates team effectiveness; assumes the role of the team leader; thinks and acts analytically; makes sound decisions to support the mission; applies knowledge and skill to solve problems and respond promptly, appropriately and constructively to employees and members.
  • Must demonstrate proficient business literacy, writing, project management, budgeting, planning, presentation and computer skills.

South Central Power Company, Ohio’s largest electric cooperative, is seeking an experienced individual to fill the position of Director of Member Experience.

This position provides leadership and direction for all functions related to the cooperative’s contact center. The position is responsible for the development and implementation of programs and processes that will improve efficiencies, increase member satisfaction and foster goodwill between the cooperative and its members. Experience in establishing, monitoring and analyzing key performance indicators is required. The successful candidate will have strong leadership experience that fosters a culture of coaching, team building and development of staff.

The cooperative’s member service function is spread across the corporate headquarters in Lancaster, Ohio and four district offices. The position would report to our Lancaster office with frequent travel to district offices required. This position will report to the Vice President of Member Service. Direct reports include a staff of four with an additional 30 indirect reports fulfilling front-line member service responsibilities on a day-to-day basis.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in business administration, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of practical application of skills is required with at least three of those years in direct supervision.
  • Experience in a utility or related organization is preferred.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate both verbally and in writing. Must demonstrate the ability to successfully lead change, supervise personnel and deal with a variety of people under different and sometimes difficult circumstances.
  • Must be proficient with computer programs like Word and Excel and should have experience with Interactive Voice Response (IVR) units and call recording/monitoring equipment. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
