South Central Power Company, Ohio’s largest electric cooperative, is looking for an energetic and creative individual to fill the position of Communications Specialist with a focus in design. This position will be responsible for crafting multimedia content for use in communicating with members, employees and the public. The successful applicant must possess a strong ability to engage internal and external audiences through strong interpersonal and creative skills. Superior writing and graphic design skills are required. Strong knowledge of social media tools and engagement strategies is required. The position works out of our Lancaster office and reports to our Communications Manager.


  • A post-secondary degree in graphic design, multi-media arts, journalism, marketing, communications or a related field is required.
  • Three to five years in the field of communications with design, photography and/or video experience is preferred.
  • Must possess advanced knowledge of principles and tactics of design, photography, and video production, writing and editing skills, and must be able to operate within a Windows/PC-based computer environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Creative Cloud applications, as well as online services such as Canva, WordPress and social media management platforms.

South Central Power Company, Ohio’s largest electric cooperative, is seeking an individual to fill the position of Key Accounts Representative.

Responsibilities include assess and address issues of members identified as having “Key Accounts” as stipulated by the Cooperative. This position is responsible for building and maintaining relationships that assure the mutual success of the Cooperative and the Key Account. Relationships are to be maintained with existing identified Key Accounts as well as developed with prospective members who will generally meet the criteria of 1 megawatt (MW) and above.

Candidates must have exceptional written and oral communication skills and be able to effectively present to members. This position will report to the Director of Energy Services and Business Development and work out of the Lancaster office.

Other essential functions include:

  • Serve as primary contact for all commercial and industrial loads identified as existing Key Accounts and assist with any other commercial large power account requests such as billing, rate schedule and payments.
  • Serve as project lead during new construction phases for prospective members who will generally meet the criteria of a Key Account. This includes:
    1. Timely flow of information between developers and cooperative personnel.
    2. Gathering all necessary load, project requirement information and timelines from the member or his/her representative and sharing that information with cooperative personnel to assure timely completion of projects.
  • Conduct site visits to offer assistance and any Cooperative services and products that may be beneficial to Key Account members, including, but not limited to making recommendations for improving load factor, power factor and power quality.
  • Serve as project lead for all commercial rebate programs.


  • A high school diploma is required. A bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, communications or related field desired. Must complete NRECA course: 487.2 Managing Your Electric Cooperative’s Key Accounts within two years from hire date.
  • At least five years of experience in customer service with an electric utility is desired. At least two years managing commercial accounts, negotiating business deals and building customer relationships is required.
  • Knowledge of electric distribution systems and general understanding of energy related electro-technologies is desired.

South Central Power Company has an immediate opening for a Journeyman Line Worker. The home office location will be at Mill Park Drive, Lancaster currently under construction. Until the Lancaster office is operational the successful candidate will report to an existing office as determined by the cooperative.

Responsibilities will be assigned based on the successful candidate’s level of training and experience but will include types of work involved with the installation, maintenance, operation, removal and inspection of electrical transmission and distribution facilities, which includes substations. Safety is a top priority of South Central Power Company. Therefore, the successful candidate will have demonstrated safe work practices, exceptional communication skills, and be committed to playing an active role in safety.

The awarded candidate will be required to reside within 25 miles of the assigned work facility within the first 6 months of employment and be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for scheduled or unscheduled assignments.


  • Must possess a high school degree or equivalent
  • Completion of a trade program in the electrical field
  • Previous line work experience preferred
  • Maintain a Class A CDL
  • Successfully pass a background check, drug/alcohol test and a physical and knowledge-based pre-hire assessment

South Central Power Company, Ohio’s largest electric cooperative, is seeking an individual to fill the position of Accounts Payable Specialist/General Accountant.

Responsibilities include timely and accurate payment of the cooperative’s expenditures, month end close and reconciliation of accounts payable subledger; invoice data entry into accounts payable computer software, oversight and coordination of timely invoice approvals for payment, complete weekly payment processing, prepare voids and corrections as needed; analyze and reconcile payment activity; other general ledger accounting tasks to include but not limited to account reconciliations, monthly analysis and reporting; fostering relationships with internal and external customers, coordination with Purchasing, Operations and other departments.

This position will report to the Accounting Supervisor and work out of the Lancaster office.


  • An Associate’s degree in accounting with a minimum of three years’ experience in accounting or related business field is required.
  • The successful applicant must possess a strong knowledge of general accounting and accounts payable functions and possess strong analytical and computer skills.
  • Organized with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Continuous improvement mindset and adaptability to business process change.
  • Verbal and written communication skills; experience working with vendors and customers.
  • A working knowledge of the cooperative is preferred.
