Before We Start

When undertaking an electric installation process, the member is responsible for supplying the following components and completing the final site restoration.

Service Size <320 Amp

  • Meter base & or disconnect(s)
  • Conduit system installed in the ground
  • Concrete transformer pad (if applicable)

Service Size >320 Amp

  • CT Cabinet (with Polaris lugs for each conductor)
  • Conduit system installed in the ground
  • Concrete transformer pad(s)
  • Secondary/Service wire(s)
  • 2 Bolt compression fittings installed (if applicable)
Once Your Service is Complete

  • View and pay your electric bill
  • Sign-up for paperless billing
  • Track your electricity use
  • Set-up or modify AutoPay
  • Update your personal information
  • Report a power outage

Phase 4 – Construction & Installation

It is the members responsibility to contact operations coordinator to schedule construction.

  • Installation time frame will be provided after phase 3 is completed. Outages or weather may increase this time.
  • South Central Power's construction crews will come to the site and install facilities as designed and leave the member's site ready for final restoration by the member.
Phase 3 – Pre-Construction
  • South Central Power's crew or contractor may contact OUPS to mark all underground public utilities such as electric, gas, communications, etc.
  • South Central Power will supply easement forms, but the member project or construction manager is responsible for gathering signatures as required for the installation.
  • South Central Power may require some vegetation clearing at the owners expense.
  • South Central Power is not responsible for damages to any unmarked private or public owned facilities.

Member Checklist

During the pre-construction-phase, reference this checklist to ensure you have all the information you need.

  • Pay the invoice provided. Invoices are valid for 90 days.
  • Sign and return required notarized easements.
  • Have meter base installed and inspected by the county electrical inspector or other governing authority.
  • For underground service, SCP requires a 15 foot wide path route that is free from dirt piles, debris, and construction material.
  • South Central Power's work zone must be within 6 inches +/- of final grade
  • Notify South Central Power when all the above have been completed. After this is all complete, South Central Power's construction crews may be scheduled.
Phase 2 – Design

During the design phase, if requested,a field engineer will meet with you on-site to discuss options.

Next, South Central Power will perform a site visit and design the most economical route for electric service installation, layout proposed route on the provided site plan, and then determine a cost estimate after the route has been approved.

Note Major changes to this design may result in job delays and extra fees.

Phase 1 – Applying

This step may take 3 to 6 weeks depending on our waiting list and seasonal demands. Jobs are typically performed on a first come, first serve basis. We will contact you with any questions or follow up.

Member Checklist

During the application phase, reference this checklist to ensure you have all the information you need.

  • Complete application for service.
  • The application will not be considered complete unless it includes:
    • The entrance service size
    • Voltage
    • Electrical load information
    • Electrical motor load (10hp or greater)
    • An authorized signature
  • Electrical One Line PDF
  • Electrical Site Plan PDF
  • Auto CAD of the site plan including pavement and building layout
  • Current recorded deed and plat
  • Submit application online or to any South Central Power office location
