Each year, cooperatives across the country celebrate National Cooperative Month in October. But what does this month really stand for? What does “National Cooperative Month” really mean? Well, for South Central Power Company, it means celebrating how far we’ve come and how our community of members has brought us to where we are today.
It all started almost 90 years ago, when South Central Power was founded to bring electricity to rural communities in Ohio, locations where larger electric companies wouldn’t invest. But we saw the value in bringing electricity to those communities and to the people who make those communities what they are.
Since then, our members have been our top priority. Through programs like the South Central Power Company Foundation, Operation Round Up, and community events, we do our best to give back to the members who have given so much to us. We are proud to participate in and sponsor fairs, festivals, back-to-school nights, kids’ safety initiatives, and more because we believe strongly in our community and what it takes to make it strong.
Throughout the 24 counties in Ohio that we serve, we make it our mission to make an impact on every member, whether that is simply delivering reliable electricity to their homes, providing fast customer service when there’s an issue, sponsoring 4-H programs and purchasing livestock from students at fairs, or connecting members to fast fiber internet through connectSCP. South Central Power values its members because its members are South Central Power. You are what makes us, us. Thank you to our members across Ohio.
