On May 29, leaders and stakeholders in the energy sector including Todd Shelton, South Central Power's community relations manager, gathered in Lancaster for a roundtable on permitting reform grid reliability. Among them was Congressman Troy Balderson, a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee and an advocate for energy independence in the US.
At the meeting, Balderson unveiled the Reliable Power Act. This act seeks to protect the dependability of the American electric grid by putting into place higher accountability and coordination standards as well as more effective enforcement of these standards at the federal level.
The group also discussed the GRID Power Act, another program headed by Congressman Balderson. This act seeks to give power grid operators the power to expedite projects that will improve overall grid reliability.
