South Central Power has awarded a $10,000 grant to Haven House of Pickaway County Inc.  The funds will assist the Haven House with improvements to the organization’s newly purchased facility including installation of bathrooms, laundry rooms and more.

“We thank South Central Power for helping to expand our ability to serve victims of domestic violence and women and children who are homeless,” said Lisa Johnson, executive director of Haven House. “The donation will help us to enable families to live without fear of violence until they are able to provide permanent housing for their families which is our ultimate goal.”

“Concern for community is one of our cooperative principles, and South Central Power believes in investing in the communities where we live and work,” said Liz Bainter, South Central Power’s community development ambassador. “We are proud to help organizations like Haven House that are working so hard to improve the lives of those in the communities we serve.”

South Central Power partnered with CoBank, one of its lenders, in awarding the grant. Each organization provided $5,000 for Haven House.

South Central Power is Ohio’s largest electric cooperative serving approximately 118,000 homes, farms, commercial businesses and industrial firms in 24 counties. With headquarters in Lancaster, it also operates offices in Hillsboro, Circleville, Canal Winchester and Barnesville.
