What is a utility forester?
I view my role as a utility forester as a person who is a caretaker of South Central Power’s rights of way and the members’ property. I enjoy working with members to achieve safe and reliable power while preserving their property the best we can.

What makes Mark a great utility forester?
Mark’s educational background coupled with 20+ years of experience in the vegetation management industry gives our members a utility forester who knows how to carefully balance our membes’ need for safe and reliable service with the ability to keep our rights-of-way clear of hazardous vegetation. — Brandon Hull, Vegetation Management Manager

What does Mark say about his work?
I spent the last 15 years as a contracted utility forester working mostly on big investor-owned utility systems. The environment of a rural electric cooperative suits my personality perfectly. It is a pleasure to work with members because they’re part of the company and not just another customer.

At South Central Power Company, our goal is to provide you with reliable electricity at an affordable price. Sure, we rely on poles, wires, transformers, and substations to make it happen, but behind all of that stands an incredible team of employees who work 24/7 to keep the cooperative running at its best.

South Central employs 250 workers who do everything from line work to accounting. In our member service lobbies, warehouses and trucks, our 24-hour dispatch center, and more, our employees work hard to make sure your needs are met in every community we serve. This year, we’re spotlighting some of those employees — the people behind your power.
