Scholarship programs help high school seniors who want to continue their education at a college, vocational, or technical school.
The South Central Power Company Foundation is offering five scholarship categories:
- Academic Excellence
- Career-Technical
- Community
- Leadership
- Opportunity
Steps to Apply for a Scholarship
- Review the five scholarship categories and rules and guidelines
- You may submit only 1 application.
- Be sure to use the correct scholarship category to submit your application.
The deadline to apply for the 2025 scholarships is Feb. 1, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. The application and guidelines will be posted here around Dec. 1, 2024.
Scholarship – Academic Excellence
The program provides graduating high school seniors who have demonstrated academic excellence in the classroom as well as involvement in school activities with additional funds for higher education in a four-year bachelor’s degree program. Several students will receive a $1,000 scholarship. From that group, the South Central Power Company Foundation Board of Directors will select a student to compete in the statewide competition sponsored by Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives, Inc. The top statewide prize is $4,300.
Scholarship – Career-Technical
This scholarship is to award eligible high school seniors who plan to pursue a career in a trade or vocational field. The scholarship is to provide financial support to high school seniors who plan to attend a trade school, technical school or community college and obtain an associate degree, diploma or certificate.
This scholarship is to award eligible high school seniors who exemplify the cooperative principle “concern for community.” These students demonstrate strong community involvement and leadership skills through community and volunteer work and an ongoing commitment to community service. The scholarship is to provide financial support to high school seniors who plan to pursue a 4-year degree at an accredited college, university or post-secondary institution.
Scholarship – Leadership
This scholarship is to award eligible high school seniors who have achieved success in and outside of the classroom. Students have accomplished this by one or more of the following criteria: Demonstrated strong school and/or community involvement, maintained employment, served as a leader among their peers and/or faced adversities. The scholarship is to provide financial support to high school seniors who plan to pursue a 4-year degree at an accredited college, university or post-secondary institution.
This scholarship is to support students who demonstrate resilience, potential, creativity and skills outside traditional academic measures, including those who demonstrate practical skills, artistic pursuits, community service, or personal achievements that might not be fully reflected by standard academic metrics.
